for settlement; in these accounts he charges the United States (and which has been allowed) with the bounties paid to ten men, eight of which are included in your return, viz^t Gilbert, Shaddox, Smith, Cornell, Taylor, Bagley, Davis & Hough. the other two are Isaac Shaddock and Jeremiah Brown. you observe that you only received twelve dollars on account of this business. I wish to be informed whether the twelve dollars was independent of the money received of M^r Marion, because M^r Marion produced your receipt for twenty dollars which is the premium for the above named men; and which receipt is subjected to the account. I will transmit by next post to Cap^t Freeman a copy of the necessary papers who will have this business put into a right train.
