In consequence of the information contained in your letter of the 11th Ulto respecting the counterfeiting the Notes of the Branch Banks of Baltimore and Charleston. I wrote to the Cashier of the Bank of the United States on the subject — I inclose his answer accompanied with four Sheets of the impressions two of five and two of ten dollar notes, and the signatures of the Presidents of the Branch Banks referred to, which I hope may serve to detect the fraud and I request your entire compliance with the request contained in the Letter of the Cashier, viz: That you will not show these sheets to any other than persons in whom the very greatest confidence can be placed.
