To the Head Chiefs Sachems and Warriors of the Six Nats. Brothers - Having his day Recd. a return from the President of the United States Respecting your speech Delivered me at Buffaloe Creek and forwarded by Mr. Parrish, The President our Father having taken into Consideration the Cause of our uneasiness Respecting the Settlement at Presque Isle &c. and being deeply concerned for the welfare of the Six Nations, and that a good understanding might exist between them and the United States, immediately entered into measures which he thought best Calculated to procure an amiable agreement between both parties, And he now takes this opportunity to endeavor to Satisfy your minds and to give you a right understanding in all things whereby you make your minds uneasy. He invites you all to assemble in a Treaty to he holden in Canandanqua on the tenth of September next, and has ordered Commissioners to attend said Conference, and an adequate supply of Provisions &c will be forwarded for you, and I hope and believe that we shall determine on something which will give general Satisfaction to Both Parties. It is not in my Power to give you this information Personally on account of Sickness in my Family. I have sent my son to you with strings of wampum to your Chiefs, for you to forward information to your Villages Villages and must Request your attention in Business, As the President of the United States is Desirous your minds should be made easy, and for you to remain quiet on your seats. Wishing you to notify all your Villages to attend the Treaty in your Neighborhood, as well as Capt. Obeel and his People.
