Thomas Hart] [August 16^th 1794] [Received [undecipherable] 1794 B [undecipherable]] [[undecipherable] in Virginia] August 16. 1794 Sir Some time back I also received a letter from the Governor of Virginia, covering a despatch from the Secretary of War requesting his Excellency to [undecipherable] under his directions and to make what Arrangements he should think best for their own [undecipherable] [undecipherable] in conformity [undecipherable] — [the] orders from the Governor to also have [undecipherable] over the Country at [undecipherable] of [undecipherable] with a promise that the [undecipherable] should receive their pay monthly; this order has long since [undecipherable] but them not yet received any [undecipherable] for those days. The [men] have become [undecipherable] on that [account] and [it has been with difficulty that I have] [undecipherable] them still — in [undecipherable] time to the above [undecipherable] and [that from] other [undecipherable] arising [undecipherable] of [undecipherable] a [Conviction] of the [Necessity] [of] Cash [undecipherable] to the [undecipherable] of the Guard [undecipherable], I thought it my duty to call out a Party of the Militia to guard the Stores.
