Madam
I have received your letter of the last and in consequence thereof have caused to be remitted to Abram Dunham Esqr Supervisor at Trenton Forty dollars being Captain Pike's pay for the Month of Decemt 1793. I have advised Mr Dunham as an eligible mode of conveying it in your hands to remit it to Jonathan Dayton Esquire to be paid to you and for which you will sign a receipt accordingly. I have attended to Mr Doylans the one you gave him it not being in form. — Until I should receive different instructions from Capt Pike you may calculate upon receiving One hundred and twenty dollars more at monthly payments of forty dollars each, after which period I expect from the proposals I have made to Capt Pike, that he will effect an arrangement for your regularly receiving such sum of his pay as he may request, unless you should prefer going to him to Steupon in this part of the country — I return you inclosed your letter of 12th Inst as the particular matter you mention had better be reserved to yourself unless you should find it necessary to have recourse to the means intimated, which I presume and hope will not be the case since measures are taken for furnishing you regular remittances — In respect to your son if I can serve him in the manner you mention
