The Secretary at War, by Letters dated the 15th & 19th Instant, has applied for the following advances for the service of his Department. Viz to
For the pay, subsistence and Forage of the D. C.
Troops under the command of General Wayne
for the Months of August & September of the
present Year ............................................38.950. 90
For the pay, Subsistence and Forage of the
Troops in South Carolina & Georgia ..........1.402.—
For the pay of mounted Militia, to be Assembled
under the command of Major General Scotts — 60.000.—
amounting to One hundred thousand, three hundred & fifty two Dollars, and ninety Cents.
As the Secretary of the Treasury is absent, I have to request of you on his behalf, that you would be pleased to take measures, for preparing notes for the sums above mentioned, according to a list, which the Accountant of the War Department will furnish. — Warrants for covering the expenditure, will be seasonably issued.
