Elizabeth town July 21^st 1794 Sir, I have received your favor of the 17^th Instant. If drafts upon the Branch bank cannot be obtained, there will probably be no difficulty in procuring Post notes which are made payable to me or my orders. Should these also, contrary to their usual practice, be refused at the U.S. bank, there will remain no mode of remittance but by the means of the current circulating notes of the bank, unless some gentleman of your & my acquaintance should be coming to N. York, who would lodge them at the Branch bank in my name. If M^rs Pike should call before the receipt of the 40 Dollars, I will nevertheless advance it, and rather than she should be distressed, will also advance on account of the other 40 Dollars in such proportions as I shall be satisfied that she needs it, under an assurance that you will transmit this second sum on the first of August.
