Accountants Office July 21 1794 Sir I have received your letter of 11^th Inst inclosing your accounts and vouchers to that date. I am pleased with the general regularity thereof. I would however propose that in stating your account of disbursements you mention the purpuse of each payment; if the voucher contains various things, the principal objects need only be mentioned; if you leave out the words "as per his account and receipt", which is implied by affixing a number of reference to the vouchers, you would then have sufficient room without increasing the writing. The vouchers by this transmission are not yet examined — I inclose you some remarks on your accounts previously transmitted — The Secretary of War has directed a remittance to you through the hands of Nicholas Fish Esq.^r Supervisor of Four thousand dollars being on account of the incidental expences of the Ordnance Department for which you are to accept to be accountable.
