W. D. Accountants Office July 21^st 1794 Sir I have received your letter of the 11^th Inst inclosing your accounts and vouchers to that date. I am pleased with the general regularity thereof. I would however propose that in stating your account of disbursements you mention the purpose of each payment: if the voucher contains various things, the principal objects need only be mentioned; if you leave out the words "as per his account and receipt", which is implied by affixing a number of reference to the voucher, you would then have sufficient room without increasing the writing. The voucher by this transmission are not yet examined. I inclose you some remarks on your accounts previously transmitted. The Secretary of War has directed a remittance to you through the hands of Nicholas Fish Esq^r Supervisor of Four thousand dollars being on account of the incidential expenses of the Ordnance Department for which you are to accept to be accountable.
