To Pay on Com^py of Store from [undecipherable] to 18 June 1794 1 year 11 m^os @ 1400 D[ols]. 2693.33 Dols 3577. 86 Sam^l Hodgdon It is my judgment [undecipherable: that] the above mentioned account ought to be allowed, M^r Hodgdon having been promised a compensation for his services both by the Secretary of the Treasury and myself – The excellence and importance of the public business he has performed entitles him in my opinion to the sum claimed, all however beyond the sums annually appropriated for the object of the keeper of the Stores in Phila^da for the time I presided must be found out of the contingencies of the War Department – He is to be advised that on May 24. 1793. M^r Hodgdon had advanced him an amount one thousand eight hundred and thirty one dollar 56/100, which he observes has been expended for public objects, as will appear by a certificate from the Treasury. Of the same sum – M^r Hodgdon had promised him on account of his compensation as Com^py Mil[itary] Stores the sum of One thousand dollars – Knox Sec^ry of War [Copy]
