Capt. Gows detachment I not conceive the late bad weather must have retarded his march. Whilst in Philadelphia last winter I mentioned to You the Accumulating expence of the Hospital department at this post. I have already Paid several large amounts for Medicine & Hospital stores & two amounts have lately been presented which amounts to upwards of three hundred dollars I have not paid these last amounts as I have some doubts as to the Propriety of Applying monies to other Purposes than those Contemplated in Estimates for the Quarter Master Department. I have therefore to beg your instruction on this point.
