War department July 7 1794 Sir, I herewith enclose you Copies of letters to the Quarter Master General and the commanding Officer of Wheeling dated the 10 May last. Notwithstanding the explicitness of these orders, yet it appears by information there is still something defective. I most decidedly direct that you instantly ascertain whether the boat has been furnished as before directed and that the commanding Officer has executed the directions given to him to aprise the Officer of Revenue and you will transmit me the result as early as possible. If there should be any deficiency of boats or other apparatus in the Quarter Masters line let it be remedied instantly.
