F D R C^o June 26 1794 M^r Coxe has the honor to inform the Sec^t at War that after many fruitless attempts to procure in Philad^a a proper person to inspect the mines works &c of Fort Jane of Virg^a it has become a matter of necessity to seek one near the place — He is proposed to engage M^rs White Esq^r lately of the house of representatives who lives at plonchester within 19 miles of M^r Zaneys Estate. He will be requested to avail himself of M^r Tidball formerly of Philad^a & now of Winchester, who had made an intention to see M^r Zanes Ironworks, & is supposed to have made some examinations that may be useful on the present occasion — M^r Cox requests the favor of the Sec^y of War to indicate any points or objects to which he would desire that the inspector might be instructed to attend [Ex^r]
