Arrival of Pay Abeited Desertion

100%

I had the honor of receiving your letter (of the 13th ultimo.) on the 22nd inst. by Col. Gaither and a duplicate at the same time.
The arrival of the money for the pay of the troops affords very general satisfaction. the men already had become very uneasy, and several of them have made this their plea for desertion. Several small pieces of writing expressive of their discontent, were found before the barracks of the officers.
Every heart is now elated with the future prospects of a regular enjoyments_which I flatter myself, from your assurances, will continue without interruption. We are much in want of blank Muster and Pay rolls. the officers commanding companies have nuch trouble for the want of them.
I have the honor to be, sir, your very humble servant, Frederick Galacho, Lieut. U.S. Artillery.
