Indian Corn
Document 1794Francis purchased 5000 bushels of Indian corn from John Wall which was supposed to have been shipped on board three vessels. He wants Hodgdon to furnish him with a bill of lading or receipt verifying that the corn was received.
Samuel Hodgdon 1794 Philadelphia 16th June 1794 Samuel Hodgdon Esqr Sir, In September 1792, I purchased of John Wall 5,000Bushels of Indian Corn, at the foot of his accounts he says this Corn was delivered to you and Shipd on board three vessels. The Auditor has returnd the Account and says this declaration of Walls is not a Sufficient Voucher. You will therefore be pleased to furnish me with a Bill of Lading or a Copy certified or a Copy Certified of the Receipt of this Corn in Georgia, or an other document that will pass my Account which will oblige.
