⇣War department June 14 1794 Sir Lieutant Polhemus complains of a want of Axes, Paper and other quartermaster’s Stores. Everything in this line for a garrison of one hundred men, must be immediately sent to that place, and also ammunition and provisions for three months. Capt. Crawford is to command there. I have ordered one hundred barrells of Powder twenty tons of Lead, and five hundred arms and Accoutrements, Flints & to Pittsburg to save there as a Magazine in case of exigency. I am Sir Your obed. servant. Knox
