[No 191] Philadelphia May 28, 179[undecipherable] Your Letter of the 16^th instant enclosing one for Mr. Green came duly to hand — his was delivered in a few minutes after it was received — the draft shall meet due honor — tho' no provision is made for any thing of the kind, as it was supposed the money paid to the Quarter Master General would meet all such demands, I have written to him on the subject and doubt [not he] will make the proper arrangements to answer all similar calls — I have sent him duplicate receipts and shall hope soon to [undecipherable] the [undecipherable], and the [undecipherable] one with you as soon after as possible, as I am paying a dollar a day for him until he returns — Hope Bullitt's [undecipherable] waggon arrived at the time you instructed and delivered the [undecipherable] in the same order it left me — By this days mail I have forward to the Quarter Master General ten thousand Dollars in Post Notes — and this man [is] able to [undecipherable] with a careful [undecipherable] driven horses this far Pittsburgh with a load of Public Stores — among them is a cash marked Spitze Folder, but which contains five thousand milled Dollars, he engages to deliver this load in twenty days which he may easily do, as he has five stout horses to his waggon — I will thank you to make the proper enquiries respecting him until he arrives and make me acquainted with them that if ought should be amiss & any having [undecipherable] early notice [undecipherable] the [undecipherable] waggon to lodge at John Dunwoody who keeps the Eagle Inn in Market Street.
