Head Quarters Greeneville May 21. 1794 Sir, Mr. [undecipherable: Pelli], enclosed your letter, to me wherein you request him to have a settlement made for your arrears of pay, Subsistence and forage as Major in the [undecipherable] Legion. I would advise that a settlement could be made for you in Philadelphia; as you will ultimately have to settle your public accounts there, both can be done at once. I have enclosed a list of the charges against you — But if it should be more convenient for you to lodge your public accounts and Vouchers with me, and also any balance of public cash that may remain in your hands; than to go with them to Philadelphia, I will receive them and send them forward to the accountants — of this however you are the best Judge.
