for sixteen Months, they appear to have enlisted in February 1779— now Sir it may be presumed that all the Regiments were similarly situated with the first and had a proportion of those Levies or 16 Months Men, if so I have no doubt settled several accounts for this class of Soldiers and allowed depreciation which is not warranted by the Act of Congress of the 10^th of April 1790— I have therefore to request you will give me the earliest information on this subject and if it is in your power to transmit me a list of the names of those Levies it will be of infinite service in forwarding the settlements— make my respects acceptable to M^rs Peirce and believe me yours sincerely Joseph Howell Major S.
