April 21st 1794.
Sir
I intended to have remitted the pay of your detachment previous to their march from West point up to the 1st Instant, but from the expectation of the Secretary of war you will probably depart from that place before it would be possible for you to receive a remittance, I have therefore concluded that the whole detachment should be paid on their arrival at Brunswick or Trenton, and as you will not be permitted to come forwarded to the Office, I shall send some person to meet you at that place in order to pay the detachment and to settle your accounts you will therefore bring on all such papers as may be necessary for that purpose.
I am Sir &c
Joseph Howell
Capt Bezaleel Howe
