D. of War Accountants Office April 24^th 1795 John Chester Esq^r Pay^m Conn^t Sir The Treasurer has been directed to you to be transmitted to Cap^t Decius Wadsworth New London the sum of seven hundred forty six dollars and thirty four Cents being for the pay of himself & Recruits from the 1^st of Novem^r 1794 to the 31^st of March 1795 inc. for which sum please take his receipt to be accountable to this Office for the distribution thereof. I am Sir Y^r William Simmons Cap^t Decius Wadsworth New London D. of War Accountants Office April 24^th 1795 Sir The Treasurer of the United States has remitted to John Chester Esq^r Pay^m of Con^t to be transmitted to you, the sum of seven hundred, forty six dollars and thirty four Cents, being for the pay of yourself and recruits from the 1^st Nov^r 1794 to the 31^st of March 1795 inc. for which you are accountable for the disbursment thereof agreeable to the enclosed receipt roll — it is intended that in future the Officers must make out their own pay rolls & transmitt them to this Office within the Master of two Months, when they will be re-examined and any money transmitted in the usual way — I therefore close you a pay roll for yourself and Recruits amounting to the above sum which will serve you
