The Treasurer of the United States has remitted to John Chester Esqr Paym of Cont to be transmitted to you, the sum of seven hundred, forty six dollars and thirty four Cents, being for the pay of yourself and recruits from the 1st Novr 1794 to the 31st of March 1795 inc. for which you are accountable for the disbursment thereof agreeable to the enclosed receipt roll — it is intended that in future the Officers must make out their own pay rolls & transmitt them to this Office within the Master of two Months, when they will be re-examined and any money transmitted in the usual way — I therefore close you a pay roll for yourself and Recruits amounting to the above sum which will serve you
