W. D. Accountants Office April 22. 1794 Sir In answer to the request of your letter of 19^th Inst. I have to inform that the State of Virginia stands charged on my books with thirty thousand dollars on account of pay due the Militia of said State for the protection of her frontiers, nine dollars [undecipherable: being] were remitted 1^st November 1792 and the remaining 21,000 the 25^th of March 1793 through the board of the Supervision to be paid the Treasurer of that state — The Secretary of War and myself are accordingly pressed by the Governor of Virginia for settlement of the accounts of the Militia, which cannot be complyed as above, which I have delayed untill I have your opinion on my letter of the 19^th Ultimo.
