In answer to the request of your letter of 19th Inst. I have to inform that the State of Virginia stands charged on my books with thirty thousand dollars on account of pay due the Militia of said State for the protection of its frontiers, upon dollars [undecipherable: thereof] were remitted 1st November 1792 and the remaining 21,000 the 25th of March 1793 through the hands of the Supervisor to be paid the Treasurer of that state— The Secretary of War and myself are exceedingly pressed by the Governor of Virginia for settlement of the accounts of the Militia, south &c employed as above, which I have delayed untill I have your opinion on my letter of the 19th Ultimo.
