Dear Sir
As the Quarter Master General has not yet arrived, I have been under a necessity of drawing on You for several Sums, on acct of the Quarter Master Department, to wit on the 15th inst in favour of Mr John Harris at Eight days sight for Two hundred Dollars. and on the 17th in favoring William McKinley two drafts Payable ten days after sight — viz — one for six hundred & fourteen Dollars and the other for six hundred Dollars, & I have this day drawn on You in favour of Alexr Scott, for seventeen hundred & Sixty Dollars Payable thirty days after Sight.
Mr Harris not having an Opportunity of Settling his account with Mr Bell[undecipherable] Previous to his departure from Fort Washington has requested me to take up his amount here which has Occasioned the Draft in his favour.
The Draft in favour of William McKinley are in discharge of an Account for a large Quantity of Forage delivered agreeable to contract at Fort Washington. The draft in favour of Alext Scott is, in Payment of Twelve Tons of Bar Iron delivered at this post, Agreeable to Contract.
As Col. O. Hares has not written by Post I presume he is on his way home & therefore has not wrote to him. Should notice be in [Philadelphia?] please to tell him that all the Iron, half the number of bags, [undecipherable] and nearly all the Park [undecipherable] sent forward in a few day[s].
