[Penna John McElwain No 11] Know all Men by these Presents, That I, John mcElwain Late a [undecipherable] in the Second Pennsylvania Regiment in the Service of the United States of America, for a valuable and full Consideration to me in hand paid, at or before the Execution hereof, by [undecipherable] the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, HAVE, and by these Presents, DO grant, bargain, sell, release, transfer and assign unto him, his Heirs, Executors, Administrators and Assigns, all and singular the Right, Title, Interest, Property, Claim and Demand, which I now have, or which I, my Heirs, Executors or Administrators, may at any Time hereafter have, to all and singular the Lands, Pay, Arrearages of Pay, Clothing, Rations, Rewards, Bounties, Gratuities, Prize-Money, and other Debts, owing and coming to me, from the United States, or from any particular State. And I do hereby for myself, my Heirs, Executors and Administrators, covenant and agree to and with the said [undecipherable] his Heirs, Executors, Administrators and Assigns, that I, my Heirs, Executors and Administrators, shall and will, at any Time or Times hereafter, upon the Request, and at the Costs and Charges of him, his Heirs, Executors, Administrators and Assigns, make, seal, execute and deliver, or cause or procure to be made, sealed, executed and delivered, all and every further and other lawful Acts, Deeds and Things, to be made, for the further Assurance and Assurances in the Law, for the perfect disposing, conveying, or Conveyance and Assignment of the Right, Title, Interest, Property, Claim and Demand, which I now have, leasing, transferring and assigning to him or Administrators, may at any time hereafter have, of, in and to, all and singular the Lands and Premises aforesaid, as by his or their Counsel learned in the Law shall be reasonably advised, devised or required. And I do hereby make, ordain, constitute and appoint [undecipherable] my true and lawful Attorney, irrevocably, to ask, demand, recover and receive, of and from the United States, or from any particular State, or from any Person or Persons whatever, in my Name or otherwise of their Authority, all and singular, the Lands, Pay, Arrearages of Pay, Clothing, Rations, Rewards, Bounties, Gratuities, Prize-Money and other Demands, due, owing or coming to me; and upon Receipt thereof, to execute and deliver sufficient and regular Receipts, Releases and Acquittances for the same, and upon non-payment to take all usual and effectual Steps in Law to grant, bargain, sell, release and confirm the full Power to the Purchaser, or Purchasers thereof, his, her, or their Heirs and Assigns for ever: And also to seal, assign and transfer all Certificates, and Registered or other Stock, now or hereafter standing to order of [undecipherable] in the Books of the Treasury of the United States, or of any particular State, for, or in Consideration of the said Services or otherwise; with Power and Attorney to make and under him, for that Purpose aforesaid, to make and substitute, and to do all lawful Acts requisite for effecting the Premises, as fully and effectually as I myself could do if personally present, or acting in these premises; and also from time to time, hereby allowing, ratifying and confirming all and whatsoever, my said Attorney, or his Substitute, or Substitutes, shall lawfully do, or cause to be done, in or by Virtue hereof.
