Sir
Your letter to the Secretary of war of 16th Novemr. last covering a pay roll and receipts for one Months pay of the De=tachment of Fort Franklin has been handed to me. there appears a misapplication in this business as you will observe by my letter to you of 13th May 1793 that the money sent you was to have been applied for the Month of February whereas you have applied it to the Month of January.— I cannot say until I have a communication with the paymaster how this matter will operate; there is however another absolute objection to your receiving a credit for this payment which is the want of a Muster roll accompa=nying the pay roll you can no doubt reme=dy this last defect— I request you will pay the balance remaining in your hands to Mr Swan paymaster of the Troops—
I am Sir &c
