Sir
Your Attorney the Honorable Alexander D. Orr having received the sum of One thousand four hundred and sixty dollars being for the pay of the Scouts employed in your County between 15th May and 31st Decem.t 1793. You are held accountable for the payment thereof agreeably to the inclosed pay roll, the receipts are to be taken separately and if a signature is not written to be witnessed by a respectable evidence and to be transmitted to me under cover to the Secretary of War — You will see that the pay due in this year is not yet paid which is owing to the act of appropriation not having been passed, when that is done the residue will be paid to your Attorney — By an act of Congress the assignment of the pay of a Non-commissioned Officer and private made subsequent to the 1st of June 1792. is not valid, of course the payments are to be made to the original claimant —
