I have received your favour of the 2 8th ultimo Together with a letter from Mr Hodgson, enclosing five Thousand Dollars in Post Notes —
A Detachment Consisting of Eighty one Non Commissioned Officers & Privates (under the Command of Captains Cook & Thompson) arrived here on the thirty first Ultimo, and will embark in a few Days, if the Weather Continues favourable.
On the first of this Month I commence Issuing Whiskey to the Troops at this Post, agreeable to directions Contained in the Secretary of the Treasury's letter of the Twenty fifth of June last. the [undecipherable] of that Article at Wheeling, Beaver Block House & Fort Franklin are made in the same manner.
The Deputy Master General is arrived, & I believe intends to set off for Philadelphia in a few Days.
We have no late accounts from the Army —
