War Departm^t Acc^t Office Decem^d 28. 1793 Sir In the spring of 1792 I placed in M^r Butts hand the sum 361. ¹⁰/₁₀₀ Doll^s being for pay due the scouts of Mercer county for service in 1790 to be refunded to you in case of his not having an opptunity of making the payment Christophe Greenup Esq^r late Lieu^t of said County being authorized to receive the same & having inform'd me that he had made [strikethrough: several] applications to you without effect, I have in consequence paid him the amount having taken his indemnification lest it should be paid in any other way.
