Pittsburg December 6th 1793
Sir
Your letter of the 25th Ultimo together with blank muster and pay rolls & money for pay of the troops at the upper posts on the Ohio, I have received by the hand of Francis Mentges to whom I have signed duplicate receipts for 1686 Dollars.
Your instructions, respecting mustering & Paying the Troops shall be particularly attended to. But as Capt. Crawford is absent I am apprehensive, the Officer commanding at Wheeling beaver Block House and Fort Fayette not being Possessed of Sufficient information, will not be able to make authentic muster and pay rolls till his return, and it was unfortunate that he had not a few days notice previous to his setting off for headquarters.
I have herewith inclosed Lieut Tinsleys receipt for 447 Dollars this business had slipt my memory.
Your letter of the 26th with the enclosure by this days post is received, to which proper attention shall be paid.
I am Sir Your obt Huml Servant
