[James Hodgdon Esqr]
[Philada]
Dr Sr Barracks at Carlisle Novr 11th 1793
you will readily excuse me for not answering your letter respecting the load of Public Cloathing which Boyland had lodged near Carlisle, when I tell you that I have for sixteen weeks been more like to march to the other world than to live, but I am happy to tell you that I am recovering, and have returned to the works. The Cloathing I had sent forward as soon as I got your letter, I pray god that you and your family may have escaped that malignant disease
which has so long distressed your city, it would give me pleasure to receive a few lines from you with the news of the day, or even to hear that you were well —
believe me Dr Sir, your Sincere friend and Huml. Sert.
