I am made particularly happy by the Receipt of your letter of the first Instant, which Intimates your Safe Return to the War Office. I shall not neglect to forward instantly by Express any Important Information that may be Received at this Post from the Army. —
Fort Whittle, with forty four Recruits is Arrived, and is to Embark tomorrow Morning for Fort Washington, a few Packages of Blanketing and a Quantity of Lead have come to hand since Lieut Marty's Departure, are now going forward in Charge of F. Whittle. —
In the 8th Ultimo a Boat Arrived from Fort Washington, which brought several large Packets from Head Quarters, part of which I [sent] by last Post, the whole being too Bulky for one [undecipherable], the Remainder goes by this Post, being five Packets of Public Act, addressed, to Oliver Wolcott.
My Returns & Accounts of Disbursements at this Post up to the 8th of this Month, are nearly Compleated, and Shall be Sent by next Post.
Doctr Wallace who has Charge of a Number of Sick Men, that have been left in the Hospital of Fort Payette by different Attachments, Says that his Medicine Chest is entirely Exhausted, & that he has for a considerable time been under a Necessity of procuring Medicine & [undecipherable] at this place. — I have already have some high Act. for these Articles, and a [undecipherable] Change is daily Increasing, which might be Saved by furnishing a Supply of that Article from Philadelphia at first Cost.
