Your Letter of the 6th Instant I have just Received — I am Sorry you are under any apprehensions of my having committed a mistake in forwarding Your dispatches, You will please to advert to your Letter to me of the 9th Ult: wherein You direct me to have a light Boat in Readiness to carry important dispatches for General Wayne — which will be prepared and Sent forward by next post on [Express?] Boat, was accordingly prepared, and the dispatches You allude to accompanying Your [letter?] of the 9th thereof on the 23. and was same day forwarded in charge of a Confidential Person with printed Instructions, a Copy of which is retained. The Packets and letters mentioned in my Letter of the 30 Ultimo, lost after the Kentucky Boat, were no other than Such as I have Received this Post, Marked now before.
Yesterday having prevailed on Col. Clark, for an Escort, I Sent forward two Boats, having on Board all the flour that have come to hand, or have been provided here, Since the Departure of the last Boat, the 23 Ultimo, Except a few Packages of 2d Sub. Legion Clothing, which are now Opening, agreeable to your Orders. Rolls of Invoice are herewith Inclosed.
Boats are prepared to carry Col. Clark [undecipherable] with all the flour that may come to hand during his Continuance here, a Boat will also be Ready to carry the Officer with the Dispatches you mention —
