Sir,
I have Received your favor of the 9th Instant together with a Packett for the Commander in Chief which is forwarded in Charge of a Trusty non Commissioned Officer, on Board a Small Boat with by Men —
I have also Recieved Mr Hodydons letter of the 1st Instant Covering five thousand Dollars for Public Service. I Shall Inform the Quarter Master General of the Reciept of that Sum as well as of all my other Transactions in the Quarter Master Department — I have been, and Shall be particularly attentive, that no delay take place, in Sending forward all public property Intended for Head Quarters —
Capt Pratt took Charge of all the Store, that were then on hand, since which only two Tumbrils have Arrived, Containing four hundred Cartouch Boxes, Several Waggons I am Informed are on the way. Boats are Ready to take the Store on Board as soon as they arrive —
I Shall Send off a Boat on the 16, with four Waggons two Tumbrills, and a few other Articles, now on hand. This Boat I Shall be under the Necessity of Sending without an Escort, as Capt Reed, Conceiver he is not Justifyable in dividing his Detachment —
