Philadelphia 3 Aug^t 1793 Sir By this day's Post I am favoured with your Letter of the — July, and after attentively attending to every particular can assure you that all the [undecipherable] commands my immediate attention On the 30 ultimo four Powder Carts left this Place for Pittsburgh to be forwarded to the Army — to save as much as possible, I gave each a light Load, which may be considered as going free of charge as I must have given the same price for the transportation of the Carts alone — The Loads as you will perceive by the endorsed invoice are of kind to prevent possible injury to the Carts — Guns I have not forwarded as I supposed they could be better furnished by the Artificers with the Army — if however you have reason to think otherwise, you can supply them — The three hundred pairs of Shoes, are for the 1^st Sub Legion and I must request you to put them in suitable packages, and mark them accordingly before you to send them to Head quarters — The Clothing for the first Sub Legion is nearly all on the road, and I will send you compleat invoices of the whole by the next Post — The 2 will the command my immediate attention as I before advised you — I had not made up your accounts being forwarded until I received your Letter — but I will look after them, as they may lay for Month[ly] at my [undecipherable] have done — Money I know you must have, and I trust on your Estimates I shall always obtain it, in future it will be well to send me Copies of the estimates you forward, then they will be in certain train — This mo- ment Thomas Martin has called for two Powder Carts being the last of those ordered — each has taken three hundred pairs of Shoes in Bulk for the 1^st Sub Legion, which you will be pleased to pack and forward as before requested, they compleat the whole number of Shoes for that Legion, excepting eighty seven pairs which are packed with thin Clothing and will go forward to Day. In one of those Carts as you will perceive by invoice is a Cask of China which is well put up and from the charge given I have reason to hope will go safely to hand and be pleasing — In Richard Carsons Waggon that left this on the [undecipherable] inst is two Barrels of Loaf Sugar amounting to the enclosed amount — That for Colonel Sargent, I wish you to forward with the enclosed Letter to his address by the first safe conveyance — I have nothi- further to add but an assurance that all that I can contribute to do to make your situation pleasant, agreeable, and profitable shall be done — make my respects to M^rs Craig and the whole Family — tis a long time since I have heard from M^r O'Hara, but I live in daily expectation — I am Your Most Obedient Serv^t Samuel Hodgdon [3 Aug 1793] Major Isaac Craig —
