Sir
Your letter of the 3d and 15th Instant have both been Received, I am Sorry my Attention has been so Indispensibly engaged, having Journies to Freight, and Store, and Making out Returns and Estimates, that I have not had a moment, to acknowledge the Receipt of Your favors.
The Twenty five hundred Dollars Accompanying your Letter of the 5th came lafe to hand, but Sam afforded but small Relief from my numerous Engagements, my Grateful Acknowledgement, notwithgs are due to Constant attention to my Application.
On the 8th Instant I Inclosed to the Secretary of War Delivers of Stores viz to the 1st of July 1793, and have Since transmitted to the Comptroller of the Treasury, Vouchers for my Disbursements, Accompanied by an Abstract of Accounts, a Copy of which I then Inclosed to the Secretary of War, and by this Post have transmitted to him an Account Current, by which a large Ballance appears in my favor.
This Act is Accompanied by an Abstract of Objects of Expenditures that either have already or must Occur in the Present Quarter, also Summerizing the 1st of July 1793. I hope You will find no difficulty in Obtaining and transmitting the Ballance of my Actt together with at least a part of the Amount of the Estimate.
I have been under a Necessity of Borrowing a large Sum from [undecipherable] for various other than, and of giving due Bills for a Considerable Amount, for all of which I am Personally Accountable, from these Considerations, I have no doubt of Your Exertions
and particularly as the Honor of the Quarter Master Department as well as my feelings are Interested —
Your letter of the 4th Instant Accompanied by an Invoice of Cloathing at those this Moment Received, Your Instruction Respecting there things Shall be Litterally adhered to.
I am highly pleased with Your Sending Cloathing for the Troops at these Small Posts [undecipherable], as I Intended the Idea of Opening and Refreshing Cloathing at this Post.
Intend to have Inclosed You Transcripts of my Actt Current & Estimate, but not having time, must Refer you to those sent to the Secretary of War.
