I have received your letter of the 5th instant.
I shall inform the Secretary of the Treasury of your information and opinion upon the subject of Big Beaver Creek, and inform you of the result.
All the money you have requested has been furnished excepting two thousand five hundred Dollars, which will be transmitted you as soon as you comply with the instructions relatively to estimates. Estimates and regularity in conducting the business are indispensible. Money will be furnished for objects contemplated, and previously estimated; but it would be extremely irregular to furnish indefinitely money without a previous view of the subject for which it may be required —
