Philadelphia July 11^th [179-] Sir By order of the Secretary [of War] I herewith send to you at Pittsburgh twenty five hundred dollars for Public use in the Q. Masters department. I hope it will go safely to hand and prove a seasonable supply. By a Letter received from the [Post?] since my last I am informed that you are, or will be authorized to draw on me for such sums of Money, as may be necessary to defray the expenses of his Department at Pittsburgh — you will recollect that all Requisitions must be accompanied with estimates, the Treasury System makes this indispensable — When thus addressed I am sure [the] requisitions will be promptly attended to, without which I cannot apply with any hopes of success — The last of the Cavalry Clothing will be on the road tomorrow, the Infantry will follow immediately together, with an additional number of Arms, and quantities of Powder and Lead — the small remains of the [Army] [indent?] for the [current] year will be with you shortly, every essential article is already forwarded — I am, Sir, Your Most Obedient Servant Samuel Hodgdon Major [Isaac] Craig
