Philadelphia 24 June 93 Sir— The Bearer comes forward with the first of the Clothing under the last contract — to prevent mistake or confusion, I shall send in the Clothing entire for each Corps, and as you perceive by the enclosed invoice I begin with the Artillery, and I would recommend it to you to observe the same order and Method in when you Ship the Clothing for its ultimate Destination — when the invoices accompany the Casks, Boxes and Bales, the contents of each will be known and an immediate reference may save trouble — I shall send a general Invoice of the artile forwarded to the Commander in Chief and Duplicates to each of the Commanders of Corps — with such information they will be enabled to know when the whole of the Clothing for their respective Corps have come to hand — too much attention cannot be paid to this particular to prevent any package from going forward whose contents are unknown — a complaint formerly made by a person [underline: then] high in Office — am, Sir, your Most Obedient Servant Samuel Hodgson Major Isaac Craig
