Sir,
Inclosed you will receive here Jacksons Contract and Rect. for the amount of fifty dollars for transporting the Convoys you sometime ago sent to my care to be sent to Capt. Preston At Montgomery Court House, to which is annexed Col. Prestons Rect. for the Convoys. You will see by the several dates in the papers that the business was fully executed in good time, although the Report to you came late, owing to Jacksons having acted with the Intention to go with the Professors boat to the place of their embarking in the Boats, a long search for which he has but just returned.
The distance from here to Montgo[mery] Court [House] is about 240 Miles.
