In the absence of Colonel Hodgson, who is absent on a voyage on Public business — It devolves on me to write you at this time, and do accordingly inform you that I have now forwarded to you by the Post of this day five thousand dollars in post notes, to which James Officer and Quarter Master General's charges I did Account to them — they are in your name at twenty days sight — The denominations of which are Annexed — I shall thank you to acknowledge the Receipt of them as soon as they arrive —
I have also enclosed the present week a newspaper except Wednesdays which is at present mislaid, & a letter found will come forward in next Packet — You are for the Quarter Master General to send — no letters received by yesterday's Post —
