Hopewell 22d April 1793
"Received this morning by a post from a friend that the chief of the Creek nation Drapt the Corpulas had declared war against the United States that John Golphin with from five dred to seven, had set out about sixteen days ago to join the Seminoles and was to fall on the southern parts of Georgia — but my information leads me to believe that they intend to make a lirush along the frontiers of Georgia and this State."
