War Departm^t Accountants Office May 25. 1793 Sir I inclose an acc^t of charges ag^t sundry Officers &c Abstract of Warr^ts in continuation — You will observe that the officers are paid to different Periods, it was my intention to have made up their pay generally to the 31^st of March &no further, (as I have done with the recruits at the several places of Rendezvous now under marching orders) but I have been under the necessity of deviating from that arrangement, in order to cover the sums advanced [to] Officers for recruits who would otherwise have been in arrear on Account of their acc^ts — I have also been under the necessity of paying sundry Officers & men who have been detached from the several posts on the Ohio, & who have been made up for part of the time on the rolls [lately] by you but not though not paid having left the posts previous to the [strikethrough: money] arrival of the money — It may therefore be necessary for you to [strikethrough: better to] inform the several Paymasters of this matter, it more particularly applies to the rolls that were made up to the 1^st of Sep^t last, &c as the payment [strikethrough: thereon] was only to the 1^st of Aug^t & several of the Officers & soldiers were detached, recruited &c, before the pay^mt for that month — I am Sir your obed^t Ser^t [Docketing: To Caleb Swan May 25. 1793] [Caleb Swan &c^y D.M.att]
