Dear Sir, By M.^r L'Seu I have the pleasure of another opportunity of informing You of my welfare & enquiring after Yours. — The Commander in Chief with the Army arrived here on the 6^th inst. They have encamped below the Town, waiting for further orders. — we are very busy in forwarding Forage to the out Posts. The Q.^r M.^r General is now absent in Kentucky, making providing means for transportation — he has granted me what I have asked as a compensation for my services — in consequence of which I shall still tarry in the Department. — I am very busy — and shall not be able to write you so fully as I intended. — I will thank You to [undecipherable] me, one [undecipherable] in the Federal City, dat-[undecipherable] — & send me the Number, by your next opportunity. — All Friends are well. they wish me to remember them to you.
