Dear Burbeck,
Your letter of the 26th ultimo, and the enclosing come safe to hand —
I make no doubt the arrival of Dr Hayward at Sigionville gave you great pleasure — I found him, while here, a very clevr fellow — Dibble arrived yesterday from Georgia, and will from again to Fort Washington — He is no friend to Major Gaiten — McLane, he says, has resigned.
Fennal Knox expects to commence his Eastern tour about the 25th inst. and will be gone at least four months — I shall then have my hands in full, indeed — My family continues in health & so does that of Mr Stale — Those at Mrs Tullotions are well — Miss Lydia blooming as May and in high spirits — She wants a husband.
The war in Europe begins to rage, in an high degree — For me to detail particulars of the information our papers would be too laborious a task at present — I therefore send you the latest news-papers — Read them, and lend them to your friends —
— with respect to your rank, I cannot by this opportunity write you on the subject, as time will not permit — I will get the G — ls Sentiments on this subject, and let you know them — Rudolph will be here in a few days, — the promotion of Smith and Blair has also roused him —
Your letter for Boston, I have sent on — and Billy Sergeant has his —
Let me hear from you as often as con= =venient — Health and prosperity attend you —
Yours truly —
