Last evening I was favored with your letter of the 11th Inst by the Post — with this you will receive another five hundred Dollars remittance in Notes No 4801 & 20 twenty notes of One hundred Dollars each. 853564 68 thirty notes of fifty Dollars each — and 4001 4100 4154 &c one hundred and fifty notes of 10 Dollars each, making in the whole 5000 Dollars. — I was happy to hear that the last remittance had reached you, and hope this also will go safely to hand. — Your estimate of supplies for the Current year I have filed, the amount of, and refiled, and expect Shortly, it will be written. — The bad provision reced at the same time was before the two [undecipherable] the small State probably have to day. Mr Belli is here, it seems in conveying of some information from you that it would be proper
to him to account for his expenditures he has again drawn bills to the amount of Two thousand Dollars, all of which I am directed to Accept. His expenditures it is reported are equal to Sixty thousand Dollars, this circumstance is now a Subject of investigation and will I expect cause some attention on the mode of issuing to himself as a pure Department in the future. Should such expenditures be much longer continued it is estimated to me that the appropriation for the year will be soon exhausted. Of this you are in my book — Your accounts to April will be ready on examination. Of the Present Quarter he has yet fallen due — it will commence soon, I Shall invariably attend at the Office to decide, any difficulties that may arise. My accounts were rendred on the 1st Inst. Bills. I understand has brought his to the 1st March.
Being acquisition of your letters I am Shall be enabled to make the promptness they demand, and you shall be kept advised of every material occurrence &c.
