The bearer Doct. John F. Carmichael is charged with the conveyance of the sum of Forty eight thousand two hundred & one Dollars, being the amount of my estimate for the Pay of the [strikethrough: army] [interlined: troops to the westward] on the establishment of the United States for the months of October Novem'd & Decem't 1792, remitted agreeably to the Schedule at foot for which you will be [undecipherable line obliterated] to Sign Duplicate receipts & write me immediately on the arrival of the money — I had previously [interlined: to the receipt] of your letter of 3d Ultd: advanced to the order of [undecipherable] Andrews thirty [undecipherable].
