Sir,
I have rec'd your letters of 31st Ulto & the inclosures. The money I have advanced on acct. of Doctor Balfour & Brown, being deducted from my estimate of course you cannot consider any money in your hands proper to be appropriated to their use untill my payment is deducted, but however I dont apprehend any difficulties in the matter as I have no doubt but there Gentlemen [strikethrough: have anticipated the circumstance] having previously requested the same. — I believe the army will find the necessity of having an agent here, as I am much press'd by them as well as the poor women wives of the Soldiers to receive their pay at this place.
I inclose the continuation of the list of Warrants, & the charges against Sundry Officers continued to yt. Inst. I expect the pay to Jany will be forwarded about Tuesday.
I am Sir
your Obed. Serv.
