In answer to yours of this morning —
The Secretary of War requests that you will accept the
bills drawn by John Belle, deputy quarter master general,
on the Secretary of War, and which have lately been pre-
sented to you — Be pleased to send me the amount of
the bills, that application may be made to the trea-
sury department for money to discharge the same —
