By the Certificate it would appear that Buckley was killed in [undecipherable] October, to ascertain this fact I have applied to General Sumter who I find commanded the detachment at Quinby Bridge, or on the Lines near Charleston — the General informed me that he believes the skirmish happened in July, but by recurring to Ramsay's History it would appear — I find McRamsay Vol 2 mentions that on the 12th July 1781 General Sumter & Marion with the Legion made several successful attacks on the Enemy & penetrated to the Vicinity of Charleston S.C.
I have therefore admitted the pay of Buckley to the said 12 July 1783, supposing that to be on or about the day of his Death.
